Wellbeing for Schools

Wellbeing Support Programme Facilitation, Wellbeing Team Training for staff/teachers and Consultancy

In partnership with your school, we will develop, implement and integrate a system and ethos for wellness that empowers and supports everyone involved, that fosters and enhances compassionate communication and nourishes the individual whilst strengthening community.

The Wellbeing Support Programme

This is a bespoke programme that shares knowledge and practical steps towards a deeper understanding of our multi-layered human nature, on a physical, emotional and mental level. It aims to engage everyone involved in the school - staff, children and parents and to create a support circle around the child, where everybody involved in their care is on the same page for their education and wellbeing.

The vision is to embed shared knowledge and language within the school which can evolve in its own way, is self-sustaining and can eventually become an interwoven part of the school's philosophy.

The knowledge, resources and practices that are offered in this programme, can support the school to make lasting and sustainable changes which empower the individual and provide a foundation for clear communication and better understanding of wellbeing as an integral part of our lives.

I believe that knowledge is power. The knowledge included in this programme is now more than ever, necessary to be shared with everyone, if we want people to have deeper awareness and take ownership of their wellbeing. We cannot avoid difficult and stressful situations in life, but we can definitely be equipped and resourced within ourselves to better navigate life's challenges.

The Wellbeing programme's core principle is

To share knowledge and practices that are

Simple

Sustainable

Empowering

Pairing the practices with the knowledge behind them, why they work and how, helps create deeper understanding and therefore supports sustainability, as well as nurturing the right mindset to feel empowered to take steps towards one's own wellbeing.

The programme can be taught through modules, so that all sessions are based on the school’s specific requirements. It can be taken as a whole programme, or as separate workshops.

Subjects and Content

for teachers and staff workshops

The workshops for the staff and teachers are based on 2 pillars:

For the staff’s own wellbeing

In connection to working with and supporting children

These subjects are all interlinked and overlapping, allowing us to create our own bespoke map of understanding our human nature and how we can take action individually, and as educators.

All workshops comprise of the theoretical aspect/knowledge share and practical application on a personal level and within the context of working in a school. They include a practical toolkit that can also be shared with the children. All subjects build up from one to another to further support integration of Wellness as a foundation in the school.

They also include sharing of the slides used in the workshop and suggestions for further personal work.

Wellbeing Consultancy

As educators and parents, we have all witnessed the impact the last 3 years has had on everyone's health and wellbeing, particularly our young people and children. Wellbeing is the foundation for children to access education and our children deserve to be looked after at the highest level. There is a lot of pressure for schools to bring more wellbeing activities within the school day on top of an already pressurised curriculum delivery. As a result, it can feel like another box to tick on a very long teacher’s list.

What I am able to offer is a renewed way of looking at Wellness as a whole philosophy. To inspire a new and simplified approach to further embed wellbeing in your school. Together, we can explore ways in which you can integrate Wellbeing as a core value of your school’s ethos, which can then be reflected in the delivery of learning and pastoral care so that wellbeing can be represented in all activities and communications.

How we can work together

Together we will look at your school as a whole and highlight areas that need attention. I will then create surveys for the staff/teachers, parents and children, so we can work towards bespoke wellbeing support. I will spend time at your school, interacting with children, parents and staff and look at samples of your communications to parents as well as the copy of your website, mission statement and motto.

Areas/Elements we will look at:

  • Restructuring your philosophy – mission statement

  • Aligning your message

  • Reframing language and use of clear and concise language

  • Website content and school’s motto

  • Communication with parents

  • Surveys for staff/children and parents about wellbeing support

  • Ideas for wellbeing activities at school

  • Implementation planning

What’s included

  • Meetings x3 with senior leadership team to plan and implement strategies

  • Half day at your school meeting and discussing with staff and children, and if possible with parents and/or parents’ evening to discuss their views and requirements around wellbeing support at school

  • Surveys before and after our time together and follow up survey after 3 months

  • Feedback on communications and website copy as well as suggestions for reframing language

Wellbeing Team Training for teachers/staff

This is training for staff/teachers to create an in-house Wellbeing Team. It is an add-on to the main programme and full attendance of the Wellbeing Support programme is required for this training.

By training a small team of teachers/staff to become advocates and further embed the programme, as well as create an ethos of wellbeing in the school, you will be taking full ownership of the programme to use it in ways that fit in with your school and the requirements of your community. I believe this is the most cost-effective and efficient way as it gives you the freedom to adjust the programme and facilitate wellbeing sessions as required within your school, without the need for further external provision.

What’s included

  • Practical Workshops & Q&A x4 that correlate to all the subjects taught in the Wellbeing programme

  • Wellbeing peer support meeting facilitation x2

  • Wellbeing practices workshops x3, including booklet

  • Workshop for exam stress, including the slides for the children’s workshop

  • All slides can be given in electronic form

  • Booklet of wellbeing practices is especially printed for the school

Read below a testimonial by Mrs. Nichol, headteacher of Stillness Junior School. We worked together to create the Wellbeing programme based on the school’s requirements. The feedback from teachers and children has been wonderful!

“I have had the pleasure of working with Korina over the last year as she presented a series of wellbeing programmes for both the staff and children. Korina exhibited a wide range of skills whilst building a whole school awareness of “wellbeing”.

Korina was unique in her ability to establish a rapport with the staff and children and provided print and electronic resources that the school can continue to use moving forward as we work to further embed the programme into the school.

Korina showed an unwavering commitment to helping us understand how the body works and the importance of starting the working day with some wellbeing words from our new “Wellbeing Champions” and the negative impact stress can have on the body. Korina has taken wellbeing even further and has provided a 6 week programme of yoga for the parents to enjoy.

Korina is a good listener who also can convey information clearly and effectively to individuals and groups.

As you can tell, I hold Korina in very high regard and therefore can confidently recommend her to any future employers; she will definitely be an asset to the team.

Testimonial for bespoke Wellbeing Support Programme

“Korina ran an excellent session for us which took us through the basic principles of yoga and how they can be adapted into mindful movement sessions for children.

It was particularly useful to learn about the impact of language and how we can use our language carefully to create a fully inclusive environment.
